BASIC FACTS

Malawi.Kom is an umbrella organization for a number of small to middle scale projects, each operating in a specific field:

Queen Elisabeth Central Hospital
Materials and Equipment
Various hospitals in the Netherlands are donating substantial quantities of equipment, which Malawi.Kom collects and ships.
 
Rotating Consultancy in Surgery
For teaching and staff support a number of Consultants in Surgery are scheduled to come on a rotating basis to enable the Dept. of Surgery in times of shortage of staff to fulfill its obligations.

District Hospital Support Program
Tools and Skills Project
Facilitating repair and replacement of equipment and materials, in order to enable the staff to carry out the required surgical procedures at district level. Teaching and training to work with these 'tools' is an integral part of these activities.
Organizing workshops 3 - 4 times a year to train all members of staff in basic surgical techniques

Logistical and maintenance support Bringing expertise in storage, filing and supply control.
Providing technical support in hospital technology; insufficient or lack of maintenance often is the cause for many equipment failures.

NOTE: Malawi.Kom is run exclusively by volunteers of professional status and financed and supported by private organizations and individuals.
